Gospel of the day (Gv 17,1-11a) (reflection of Pope Francis)
Before the words (...), the Gospel makes us contemplate an attitude of Jesus: the Evangelist says that he prayed "raise your eyes to heaven" (Gv 17,1).
These are the final hours of his life, he feels the weight of anguish due to the approaching passion; but just at that moment, Jesus raises his eyes to heaven.
He does not lower his head in the face of evil, non si lascia schiacciare dal dolore.
La preghiera ci apre alla fiducia in Dio anche nei momenti difficili, ci sostiene nella battaglia quotidiana.
Non è facile alzare lo sguardo quando siamo nel dolore, ma la fede ci aiuta a vincere la tentazione di ripiegarci su noi stessi!
Forse vorremmo protestare, gridare la nostra sofferenza anche a Dio: non dobbiamo avere paura, anche questa è preghiera.

Enduring is more than having patience, is to carry on one's shoulders, bear the burden of tribulations.
And even the life of a Christian has moments like this.
But Jesus tells us: 'Have courage in that moment. I won, you too will be winners'.
This first word enlightens us to go through the most difficult moments of life, those moments that also make us suffer. (...)
Three words: tribolazioni, affidamento e pace.
Nella vita dobbiamo andare su strade di tribolazione ma è la legge della vita.
Ma in quei momenti affidarsi al Signore e Lui ci risponde con la pace.
Questo Signore che è Padre ci ama tanto e mai delude.
