“The season of Lent is intended to prepare for Easter: the Lenten liturgy guides the celebration of the Paschal mystery and the catechumens, through the different degrees of Christian initiation, both the faithful through the memory of baptism and penance" (Ordering of the liturgical year and calendar, 27).
